Southern Hemisphere successes with Cape Town Opera
In the final months of a busy international 2016 Tim conducted two major productions with Cape Town Opera: Carmen at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town, and Porgy and Bess at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. His position as Associate Music Director of the Company will be extended until early 2019.
Obsidian Tear / The Invitation / Within the Golden Hour
Set to music by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Wayne McGregor's new ballet Obsidian Tear opens in May 2016 at the Royal Ballet, and is Tim's third colloration with McGregor. Tim will take over conducting duties from Maestro Salonen himself, as well as conducting Mátyás Seiber's substantial score for The Invitation, and Within the Golden Hour by Ezio Bosso.
The Importance of Being Earnest
The Royal Opera House's production of Gerald Barry’s 'wildly inventive and idiosyncratic' opera returns in March 2016, in the Barbican Theatre. A tour de force for performers and conductor, Tim will be re-united with the Britten Sinfonia, in a collaboration that 'really stole the show' at the premiere in 2013.
Cape Town Opera dates announced for 2016
For his second year as Associate Music Director of Cape Town Opera, Tim is looking forward to a busy international schedule, including productions of Mandela Trilogy and Carmen, and performances at the Ravenna Festival, Royal Festival Hall, Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires) and at the Artscape Opera House.

London Philharmonic Orchestra at Wembley Stadium
As part of a cultural showcase of Indian and British talent celebrating the visit of the Indian Prime Minister, Tim made his debut with the LPO in November to a live audience of 60,000. The event was also broadcast on Indian television.
The Merry Widow of Malagawi
Described by the Cape Times as "...the merriest, funniest, sassiest production of The Merry Widow which has probably ever graced the Artscape", Tim conducted five performances of this stylish new show with Cape Town Opera in September.

Tim is spending June and July in Madrid conducting Cape Town Opera's acclaimed production of Porgy and Bess at the Teatro Real, with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid.

The International Opera Awards 2015

Gala at the Royal Opera House
Tim will be conducting for both the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet as part of A Gala Celebration – Life Reimagined, including the World Premiere of Charlotte Bray's Out of the Ruins. The piece has been commissioned for the Royal Opera House Youth Company and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
Rite of Spring Premiere
Tim recently travelled to Cape Town to conduct 'Spring and Fall', a collaboration between Hamburg Ballet and Cape Town City Ballet. It featured the South African stage premiere of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
Porgy at the Liceu
In July Tim returned to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona for 10 performances of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, with Cape Town Opera and the Liceu Symphony Orchestra. This followed his debut there in 2013 with Kurt Weill's Street Scene.
June saw Tim's debut at the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow, conducting the Bolshoi Orchestra as part of the Royal Ballet's summer tour. The Russian premiere of Tetractys, with music from The Art of Fugue by J.S Bach, was a big success.
Turnage CD Released
Tim's recording of Mark-Anthony Turnage's UNDANCE was released by NMC on 31st March. He conducted the premiere of the work in 2011, with a talented group of musicians selected by the composer - the Undance Band - who also feature on the recording.
